European Society for Social and Affective Neuroscience

Mission Statement

The European Society for Social and Affective Neuroscience (ESSAN) gathers scientists dedicated to promoting the field of social and affective neuroscience in Europe and beyond, at all stages of their academic career. The society welcomes a diversity of fundamental and applied neuroscientific approaches to social and affective behavior (neuroimaging, neurostimulation, hormonal and genetic factors, etc.) and from all the empirical disciplines that contribute to this topic (psychology, biology, medicine, economics, etc.).

The society offers a platform to share and critically discuss scientific ideas and methods, to combine knowledge and experience, to improve the quality of research and models, and to establish lasting collaborations in a cooperative environment.

To this purpose, the board members of ESSAN take the responsibility of organizing regular meetings and trainings and of providing information about scientific events and projects, as well as job and funding opportunities thanks to an information letter and a website dedicated to the society.
